The first subaquatic antiquities museum
Egypt will obtain consultancy of Mexico, Croatia and Poland for the construction of the first subaquatic museum that will exhibit antiquities sunk in the Mediterranean Sea opposite to the coasts of Alexandria.
The Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt has announced the beginning of studies for the building of the installation, with support of an international scientific committee. The above mentioned studies will be carried out from next October.
According to the Supreme Council of Antiquities, the museum will count with a crystal tunnels network Plexiglas capable of supporting the water pressure and the winds of the sea. With this museum, the visitors will be able to appreciate in its original places the relics found at the bottom of the Egyptian Mediterranean, in addition to enjoying the submarine natural scenery. Diverse objects of the dynasties of the Pharaonic period and of the grecorromano lie plunged in areas of the port of Alexandria.
