The best of Alexandria
The city of Alexandria has several tourist areas and ancient places, some of which are still being overdrafts. Alexandria has been also a hearth of some of the most important figures of the history, from Alejandro Magno and the dynasty of the ptolomeos up to Cleopatra and Julius Caesar. The city is provided with an extremely rich historical patrimony.
The column Pompeii
The column Pompeii is one of the main attractions of Alexandria, the rest of an ancient temple marked so much by the Egyptian art as by the Roman. It is the biggest column brief that exists in Egypt, with a height of about 28 meters and a diameter in its base of more than two meters and a half. This monument brief was erected between 284 and 305 A.D., during the reign of the Roman emperor Diocletiano.
The Qaitbay castle
It is considered to be one of the most important defensive fortitude, not only of Egypt, if not of the whole Mediterranean coast. It was built in 1480 by the sultan Ashraf to protect Alexandria of the Ottoman attack. Its four corners continue the orientation of the points of the compass.
The Roman amphitheater
The amphitheater tomano was in times of the ptolomeos a magnificent garden. It was used for musical performances and sometimes for struggle competitions. It was constructed by marble of Asia, red granite of Aswan and white marble of Europe. The Roman amphitheater is placed in the modern El-Dikaa area, almost in the center of Alexandria.
