History of Egypt

The history of Egypt is more continuous and longer, like been unified, that that of any other country of the world.

Egypt

The vale of the Nile forms a geographical and economic unit, which borders on the south on the cataracts of the Nile, to the north on the sea and to the east and west with deserts. Egypt is one of the most ancient civilizations of the world, which initiated several milleniums B.C. it was the Pharaoh Menes who unified two kingdoms of the High place and the Low Egypt, inaugurating what turned into the Ancient Empire.

The Pharaoh Ramsés II was in the power from 1279 until 1212 B.C., and it is known by its increasing temples, statues, prodigious buildings and numerous monuments. Between its biggest achievements they are the signature of the first Treaty of peace that is remembered in the history, agreed between Egypt and the Hititas.

The historians divide the Egyptian civilization in four periods: the Ancient one, the Way, the New one and the Last Kingdoms. This you were some are separated from others for, respectively, the Firstly, the Secondly and Third intermediate periods.

The long history of the Ancient Egypt, of more than 3000 years, has been divided in 8 or 9 periods, sometimes called reigns. Its history started about 3100 B.C., when Egypt turned into the unified state, although the archaeological tests indicate that very much earlier a developed society had already formed. It survived like independent state up to 343 B.C. approximately.

Throughout the years, it seemed that the ancient Egyptians had developed the dynasty notion. The Stone Palermo simply does a list of the successive kings, without apparent need to group them. The list of Turin, on the other hand, is more recent and it has grouped the kings in accordance with its origins or descent.

In whole there were 30 dynasties, according to what we know across Manetho, an Egyptian priest who lived at the beginning of the Ptolemaic age. In many cases, nevertheless, it is not too clear why Manetho has grouped any kings in a dynasty and others in others. The dynasty 18, for example, started with Ahmose, a brother of the last king of the dynasty 17, Kamose. Theoretically, Kamose and Ahmose should have been grouped in the same dynasty. Thutmosis I for his part, does not seem related to its predecessor, Amenhotep I, but both are together in the dynasty 18.

It is for it that many Egyptologs have tried to leave the notions of dynasty and reign. In fact, the visitors can realize that the line of time of the Ancient Egypt can have changes as the books or the sources that they have consulted. The visitors also have to be conscious of that the dates are brought near and they must not take exactly. In many cases, it is not known during how long a king governed. Comparing diverse publications of the chronology and history of the Ancient Egypt, the visitors can realize that a short reign in one is long in other one. This happens on having tried to establish the Egyptian chronology using our numerical system.
