The Sahara
The Sahara is the biggest desert of the world. It is located to the north of Africa and divides the continent in two: the Mediterranean Africa and the sub-Saharan Africa.
It has an entire surface superior to 9 million square kilometers. Of this area, only approximately 200.000 belong to oasis. It spreads over the territory of the following countries: Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Mali, Níger, Libya, Chad, Egypt and Sudan. It is composed of gravel, sand and dunes. Unlike what he believes, since he usually associate with a very sandy desert, the fourth three parts of the Sahara are of gravel.
The Sahara lodges several ecorregiones, since such an extensive territory, the differences of climate of every area allow to the being to develop different species.
